This is a hands-on course in statistical analysis. Students will learn how to develop quantitative research designs, choose promising data for their problems and apply proper methods to solve them. We will begin by replicating published articles and proceed with original work proposed by the class. Students who are currently conducting quantitative research at any stage or who consider the possibility are particularly encouraged to join. Substantively the focus is on political competition, but students with interests in other areas should not feel excluded. Effective participation requires previous knowledge of the software package Stata. If in doubt whether this course is for you, please contact the instructor with any questions. |
