Oral skills at a university differ from other settings. This course helps students cope with listening to lectures and making oral contributions. Students will be introduced to effective note-taking techniques as well as fundamental debating and presentation skills. We will use clips from lectures as well as podcasts and radio broadcasts. The course provides plenty opportunity to try out different note layouts and speaking formats with special emphasis on the advanced language used in academic settings.
