This course addresses economic, social, political and environmental aspects of global transformations. Global transformation is a process of simultaneous and contradictory trends: Globalization is based on gender differences and social hierarchies as well as it changes local gender orders in multiple ways. We will focus on economic transformations and their social consequences (economic restructuring, employment strategies, and migration) and on environmental implications (natural resource policies, climate change, and feminist environmental politics).
The course is taught in English and welcomes students from Gender Studies and international students from different countries and global regions, esp. students from the agricultural faculty. The main course is constructed around texts, presentations by students and discussions. It is highly recommended to attend the tutorial accompanying the main course: Tuesday 16-18 h. |
