Westafrika ist eine Region mit einer langen Geschichte mündlicher Literaturen, die bis heute eine wichtige Rolle spielen und weiterhin zahlreiche andere künstlerische Produktionen beeinflussen. Dazu gehören Gründungsmythen, Epen, Spruchweisheiten, Fabeln, Theater, Lieder und Preisdichtungen. In diesem Aufbaukurs geht es um Gattungsfragen, Stilistik und Rhythmus, die Thematiken von Autorschaft und Performance, um die Beziehungen zwischen Text und Kontext und die Funktionen aktueller und historischer Texte sowie um die Analysemethoden oraler Literatur. Die Texte werden sich auf solche in Bambara und Hausa konzentrieren, die Teilnahme ist aber auch ohne Bambara- und Hausakenntnisse möglich.
Westafrica is a region with a long history of oral literatures, which until today play a prominent role and which continue to influence numerous artists in their work. In this course we will discuss questions of genre, stylistics and rhythm, authorship and performance, the relations between text and context and the functions of actual and historical texts, and we will discuss methods to analyze oral literature. The texts are in Bambara and Hausa, but participation is possible without knowledge of these languages. |
