In this course students will develop and practise the oral communication skills necessary for engaging in spoken academic discourse with an English-speaking audience on a variety of literary and cultural themes related to their studies. Attention will be given to Anglo-German differences in spoken academic discourse as well as how to structure and manage an academic speech in order to make it sound convincing and acceptable to expert listeners. The importance of intonation and prosody in extended spoken English discourse will also be focused upon.
