Die Teilnehmerzahl des Seminars ist auf 20 beschränkt. Bitte melden Sie sich vor Semesterbeginn unter AGNES an. Since the 2 decades between the first failed attempt to form a devolved Scottish Parliament and the first Scottish Parliament in session in 1999, the reassessment of all things “Scottish” has been widely discussed by many notable Scottish writers, such as A.L. Kennedy, John Burnside, Alasdair Gray, Janice Galloway and many others. In this seminar we will discuss poems and short prose by these writers and others in order to investigate “Scottishness” as a probable variant of postcolonial writing. Moreover, we will explore the problem of “Scottish identity” in relation to the literary and philosophical tradition of Scottish writing. A Reader with all the texts will be available at the beginning of the summer term. |
