Wählen Sie eines der Seminare. 'Race,' class, and gender have been and continue to be central to North American history and culture, as are categories such as sexuality, disability, age, or creed. The course examines their construction and contestation in American literature, as well as other media, in the respective historical context. In our analyses, we will try to focus not only on one, but on several of these factors at the same time.Topics that will be discussed include Native American-white interactions, slavery, the Constitution, the ideology of separate spheres, immigration, but also blue jeans and sports. Credit for this course will be given for participation in a group presentation as well as class discussions.
