How do English lawyers think? How does a legal system based on case law really function? In this module you will familiarise yourself with the common-law approach to developing the law by precedent and statutory interpretation. You will study the common-law method in the context of real cases and legislation and then learn to apply it to fictitious scenarios, just like English law students would. Preparation for classes will require the perusal of substantial materials from legal textbooks, judicial decisions and statutes. The final exam is a two-hour written paper taken in the last week of the course.
Voraussetzung: Online-Einstufungstest mit 65 bis 100 Punkten.
