This course introduces the students to tort law one of the core areas of legal study. The content areas comprise negligence (the elements of the tort, causation, defences), nuisance (private nuisance and public nuisance), trespass, vicarious liability, strict liability and remedies. The course is taught in the form of a seminar with students expected to read and research substantial and demanding materials from legal textbooks, judicial decisions and statutes at home.
The final examination consists of a two-hour written paper taken in the last week of the course.
