Colloquium Conservation Biogeography (Forschungs- und Kommunikationswerkstatt) - Detailseite

The student colloquium of the Conservation Biogeography Lab provides a space for presenting initial concepts as well as progress made in Bachelor’s and Master’s thesis carried out in the lab. All thesis students will present their work twice in order to get constructive feedback and critical discuss methodological and thematic aspects of their respective projects with a wide range of peers (fellow students, PhD students, postdocs and faculty members). The colloquium is held in English. The colloquium also serves as a forum for improving presentation and communication skills, and for developing ideas for possible future thesis topics. Finally, in the colloquium we provide skills training and tips on scientific writing and presentations.

Students take turns on moderating their peers’ presentations and discussions, with presenters from previous week moderating the following session. We expect all students carrying out Bachelor or Master theses in our lab to regularly participate in the colloquium! If you are interested in giving a presentation, make sure you've carefully read the guidelines for Bachelor and Master students. After that, please write an email to Camille Dammann (camille.dammann@geo.hu-berlin.de) to reserve a slot, including the following information:

(1) preferred date

(2) title of your presentation

(3) mention if it is a Flashtalk / Fulltalk / thesis defense

(4) a short abstract (50-100 words)
