In this course we will be reading excerpts from the Zhuangzi (one of the foundational texts of Daoism) and its modern reception. We will focus on the function of metaphors in the text. Are these the writings of an anti-rational mystic, or rational arguments engaging with the thinkers of the time?
This course is open to interested bachelor’s and master’s students of all disciplines. Prior engagement with Chinese philosophy is welcome but not required. Reading suggestions from participants are welcome.
No registration is necessary. If you want to participate, feel free to just join the first session.
