This seminar provides an introduction to the historiography of the conceptualization of the “history of Ukrainian literature” from the mid-19th century (P. Kuliš), in the 1910s (S. Efremov) and 1920s (M. Zerov), to the Soviet homogenization, and re-canonization of Soviet national literary histories. It explores also the historical-typological and comparative approach developed in exile by Dmytro Chyzhevs'ky, as well as more recent postcolonial and current transregionally decentered perspectives of literary historiography within the context of global literary studies.
