This colloquium is a platform for exchange about ongoing research on thesis projects and research on all levels: BA, MA, PhD, and postdoc. The common determinator is an interest in African and Afro-diasporic literatures and other cultural expressions such as cinema, theatre, music, and visual arts. BA and MA students will be guided through the development of their research design and writing process throughout the semester. PhD candidates will have the opportunity to present chapters and get critical feedback by supervisors as well as peer-groups. The colloquium culminates in a Research Day in July for which we will use a workshop cum conference format. The colloquium is co-directed by Godwin Siundu (University of Nairobi & currently visiting professor at IAAW) and Susanne Gehrmann. Students should be determined to be able to present an exposé or chapter of their ongoing work by July at the latest and regular active participation is required.
