"Auto-bio-graphic-ma-ma-chin-ic-ic" In this project seminar we will engage with autobiographies and tackle them as a continuous process of writing and reading, re-writing and re-reading. Auto—bio—graphy is a machine containing three parts. “Auto” refers to automatisms of the body or to the writing that happens on the margins of a conscious self. “Bio” refers to life, yet it is a life of an automatic or semiconscious process, hosted by the writer; life is a being that inhabits the writing subject. If we look at the autobiography in such way, we can practice it as “machinic-writings-of-life-beings”. We will focus on developing collective reading and writing machines reared on biographic stories and data. We will work with the body, movement, gesture and voice as the signifying matter to interpret and express memories that slip away from consciousness but reside inside of memory in minor details, little obsessions, patterns and ornamentations. Once we manage to construct few machines operating in the realm of autobiographies and expressing minor gestures, we will use them to revisit social or historical contexts, explore the strategies of evading collective identities in favour of constructing collective assemblages of enunciation. |
