This Seminar is designed as a thematic discussion module for the analyses of texts from diverse locales of the Black Atlantic within the ambits of the Transatlantic Diaspora and the resultant flow of people and ideas across and within the south-south axis. The discussions will centre on concepts such as cultural identity, créolité, transculturación, Re-Africanização, miscigenação, syncretism, as well as diverse literary and cultural theories that speak directly to texts from African and Latin-American standpoints such as quilombismo, escrevivência, des-hegemonização, decolonization, etc. Literary texts and critical works by iconic and emerging authors from Africa and the African Diaspora will make up the corpus of the Seminar with names such as Jorge Amado, Varga llosa, Alejo Carpentier, Aimé Césaire, Rogélio Martinez Furé, Abdias do Nascimento, Nancy Morejón, Conceição Evaristos, Lélia González, Beatriz Nascimento, etc. |
