Learning objectives: The students know the general principles, topics and methods of decision theory, based on theoretical mod- els and stylized facts (especially from experiments, including thought experiments). They understand the decision theoretic foundations of economics, in particular with regards to the concept of “rationality” and welfare analyses.
Recommended module or comparable previous knowledge: “Mikroökonomie I“ and “Mikroökonomie II“; „Einführung in die Spieltheorie“ is helpful.
Topics for lectures: choice and constrained optimization, risk and uncertainty, group choices, rationality and emotions.
Topics for exercises: Solutions to problem sets and discussions of empirical/experimental studies related to topics from the lecture. |
