In this seminar we will get to know the domains of semantics, the theory of meaning. After repeating and developing the basic terminology, the seminar will be divided into two main parts. In the first, we will look at semantic description, including word and sentence semantics as well as the influence of context on meaning.
In the second part of this seminar we will - step by step - approach formal semantics which enables us to analyze meaning in a systematic way. The aim of this seminar is not only to get to know semantics theoretically. The topics will be accompanied by exercises so that you should be able to apply the ethods yourself.
Required for this seminar is the basic knowledge of linguistics acquired in the introduction of Module 1.
