This research group will delve into and combine design and ethnographic research approaches. In dialogue with the research project “Urban Development through Public-Civic Partnerships” (https://www2.hu-berlin.de/pcpmodellprojekte/) we aim to intervene in two of Berlin’s model projects of cooperative urban development (Haus der Statistik & Rathausblock Kreuzberg). Based on theories and methods of an 'anthropology of urbanism' and speculative design and research approaches, we jointly prototype research devices that will be tested and further developed in a 'modeling workshop' with actors from the two model projects.
This research group is open to students from the social sciences, the humanities, and all design disciplines with interest in urban research and design.

Urban Design Politics ‚in Beta‘: Neue Ansätze der Stadt+Gestaltung am Beispiel Haus der Statistik & Rathausblock Kreuzberg, Berlin
Die Forschungsgruppe verbindet gestalterische und ethnographische Ansätze, um in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Forschungsprojekt „Stadtentwicklung durch Public-Civic Partnerships“ (https://www2.hu-berlin.de/pcpmodellprojekte/) in zwei Berliner Modellprojekten kooperativer Stadtentwicklung (Haus der Statistik und Rathausblock Kreuzberg) forschend zu intervenieren. Auf Basis von Theorien und Methoden der ‚Anthropologie des Urbanismus‘ und spekulativer Design- und Forschungsansätze entwickeln wir gemeinsam prototypische Forschungsinstrumente, die in einem ‚Modellierungs-Workshop‘ mit Akteur:innen aus den Modellprojekten getestet und weiterentwickelt werden.
Wir laden Studierende der Sozial- und Kulturwissenschaften sowie aller Gestaltungsdisziplinen ein, die Interesse an Stadtforschung und -gestaltung haben.
