This course explores a range of vital literary theory including formalism, Marxism, feminism, New Historicism, queer theory and postcolonialism. The aim is for students to grow to feel at home utilising literary theory in their academic compositions. Students will be given the chance to focus on theory which they find especially interesting and to apply it in their own brief response papers to literary texts. This work will open up opportunities to hone academic practices such as summary, drafting, quotation, and citation. Blended course.
