The Student Colloquium of the Earth Observation Lab rovides a space for presenting initial concepts as well as progress made in Bachelor’s and Master’s theses carried out within the EOLab. All thesis students will present their work at least twice in order to get constructive feedback and critically discuss methodological and thematic aspects of their respective projects with a wide range of peers (fellow students, PhD students, postdocs and faculty members). The colloquium is held in English. The colloquium also serves as a forum for improving presentation and communication skills, and for developing ideas for possible future thesis topics. Finally, in the colloquium we provide skills training and tips on scientific writing and presentations. We will provide ca. 3 slots per semester together with the Conservation Biogepgraphy Lab, where the focus will be on topics relating to both labs. Such topics are typically co-supervised across the two labs, or may just provide "food for thought" in the cross-section of topics relevant to both labs. We expect all students carrying out Bachelor’s or Master’s theses in the EOLab to regularly participate in the colloquium!
