The module "Information Behavior & Information Practice" provides advanced knowledge in theories and models of information behavior research. Knowledge equivalent to the contents of the module "Human Information Behavior" (BP5) in the Bachelor’s program is required.
The aim of the courses is to enable students to describe and explain human information behavior in a context-sensitive way and to make it visible in data. This includes in particular information behavior in groups and in social, normative or habitual situations. Students are able to carry out their own empirical user studies and, in particular, can apply methods of qualitative data collection and analysis. Contents include, but are not limited to: Information Practice, Collaborative Information Behavior, Social Media Information Behavior, Health Information Seeking, design and implementation of user studies, collection and analysis of qualitative data.
