Die Vorlesung bildet in Verbindung mit den Proseminaren das Modul Wirtschaftsgeographie. In der Vorlesung werden die
grundlegenden Ansätze der Wirtschaftsgeographie vorgestellt, das Proseminar vertieft ausgewählte Inhalte. Im ersten Teil der
Veranstaltung erfolgt die Diskussion von allgemeinen Ansätzen zur einzelwirtschaftlichen Standortortwahl und zur Struktur und
Dynamik von Standortsystemen. Der zweite Teil beschäftigt sich mit Wirtschaftsräumen und interregionalen Interaktionen.

The complementary course lecture will introduce the students to political geography. It will explore what political geography is, the key concepts, its subject matter, and why we need political geography. Topics such as knowledge and power, representations of the other, nationalism, states and territories, globalization, feminist geography and human-environment relations will be covered. A key aspect of the course will be to introduce critical thinking in relation to subject matters but also the production of knowledge. A fundamental question emerging from the course is thus what is the role of geography in an increasingly complex and intertwined world. |
