Coursework includes carrying out extensive research into controversial issues relevant to the United Kingdom and Ireland and adopting the role of being either an expert in a particular field, a talk show presenter or a well-informed member of the audience in order to take part in a number of panel discussions. This framework enables students to practise skills such as clearly structuring their information, concisely formulating ideas and extrapolating the essential information from what is being said by others. Students will become more adept at turn-taking during the question-and-answer sessions and more confident in expounding and elaborating on their own opinion despite being faced with very diverse points of view.
