Linguistic approaches feature in many disciplines in an English university curriculum. This course uses short texts from various areas in linguistics, such as stylistics, discourse analysis and pragmatics and investigates their application in literary analysis, media studies and cultural theory. As a side effect, students become familiar with linguistic terminology and can use their favourite theory for their own short response papers. Blended course.
