In this course, we will deal with methods used in modern linguistics such as in formal-grammar, psycholinguistics and sociolinguistics. We will focus on a selection of research topics and questions at the interface of syntax, semantics, pragmatics, with cross-linguistic and interdialectal (i.e. among different varieties of English) as well as inter/intra-individual comparisons (i.e. the individual differences in linguistic behavior and the underlying mechanism). The course will prepare you methodologically for writing your BA thesis in linguistics, independently of your choice of the subject matter. |
