This seminar is designed for advanced Master and Ph.D. students who wish to deepen their knowledge of managerial and personnel economics. It continues the discussion from the courses Personnel Economics and Incentives in Organization. It focuses on the intersection of behavioral, experimental, and empirical research of the effects of organizational practices (e.g., leadership, hierarchies, communication) on employee behavior with an in-depth discussion of empirical studies.
Participants are expected to develop their own research questions, critically review existing academic literature on the topic of their choice, conceptualize a study, and develop an analysis plan. The results are to be written in form of a scientific research proposal and presented at the end of the semester. All participants are encouraged to work in groups and provide feedback to each other (especially if their research questions are related). However, the final research proposals should be developed individually and be unique.
The format of the seminar relies on the vivid exchange of ideas and thoughts among participants in the form of discussions and presentations. Therefore, the participants should be motivated to attend all sessions, actively participate in group discussions, present their ideas to the group, and write a term paper (research proposal).
The seminar also includes obligatory student presentations (upto 30 min. each).
Max. participants: 20
Application deadline: 22.03.2022 via Email to Mrs. Jahnke (Office Marketing): mktg@wiwi.hu-berlin.de
