Feministische Netzaktivismus-Initiativen wie u.a.
The Projekttutorium Representing Women: Feministische Strategien in Wissenschaft, Kunst und Netzaktivismus attempts to develop feminist perspectives on scholarship, art and art history as well as technology. The Seminar will begin by giving an overview of feminist theories of science, feminist Science and Technology studies as well as feminist art and art history. On the basis of the diverse feminist strategies developed in these theoretical fields, we will take a critical look at Wikipedia, the globally influential online platform. The production of knowledge on this platform follows specific mechanisms and logics of exclusion and is characterized by predominantly white male authors, which in turn determine the available content. This is problematic especially when Wikipedia is considered a neutral and unquestionable source of knowledge in everyday life. Feminist internet activism, such as, amongst others, the initiative Art+Feminism advocate for a more diverse organization of knowledge on Wikipedia, for example by producing Wikipedia articles on women and other groups of persons or topics currently underrepresented on Wikipedia. The participants will also engage in such online activist strategies in the practical part of the Tutorium, which will be held in the second semester.
This Seminar is open for participants from all disciplines and explicitly interested in interdisciplinary exchanges.
Due to the current situation, the course will initially be held digitally (presumably via Zoom). Questions with regard to content or organizational matters can be directed at: steineha@hu-berlin.de
