What are the social injustices faced by women? What are their roots? Can problems we often consider of the past still be present today (for example, the fact that voting rights still aren’t universal although the First wave of feminism happened a century ago)? This seminar will deal with the problematic realities and the participation of women in fighting oppression around the world. We want to question the idea of linearity and progression in a History of feminism, and to think critically about it by keeping intersectionality in the foreground. The aim is to discuss examples and theories of women of all colors and thematize the urgency of having a feminism that contemplates various classes, socioeconomic backgrounds, continents and origins, sexualities, and ages.
