The rise of "illiberal" regimes or democratic backsliding in different parts of the world constitute a worrying fact. Different democratic institutions have been attacked by the aggrandisement of the executive in this process of democratic backsliding. One of these institutions is media that undemocratic governments try to control severely. This course aims to focus on the media control and on the relations between media and governments in countries living an undemocratic turn."
