Kommentar

We will read selected parts of Aristotle's de Anima and also some recent Neo-Aristotelian work that picks up themes from de Anima. I am primarily interested in clarifying the relationship between the perceptive and the rational parts of the soul. The recent literature we will read begins with John McDowell's Mind and World. Interested students should consult the Moodle page for the course in September; I will most a much more detailed plan there. I strongly recommend reading de Anima and Mind and World in advance. Knowledge of Greek is welcome but not required.
