The first part of this course will introduce students to the process, principle, and technique associated with writing a play for the radio. With inspiration drawn from an excerpt of an African play, course participants will learn the skills of character development, the creation of conflict, dialogue, and story, which will enable them to write short plays of their own. The second part of the course will mainly be focused on discussing plausible topics for the plays to be written by the course participants. The final part of the seminar will deal mainly with sessions of rehearsed-reading of the plays that will have been written in the class. At this point, basic skills of acting, character development and the use of voice shall be learnt. The rehearsed- reading will be conducted in a form of a radio play which shall be recorded and played back to the students. |
