This course aims to introduce and examine the basic concepts, theories and issues in the field of comparative constitutionalism. Students will acquire knowledge about comparative constitutionalism as a rapidly expanding field of study and research at the intersection of political science, sociology and constitutional law. In addition to the discussion on the boundaries and methodologies of comparative constitutionalism as a research field, the course covers topics such as the concept of constituent power and constitution-making, the relation between constitutionalism and democracy, constitutional interpretation, adjudication and the role of courts, and constitutional problems regarding secularism and diversity.
