In this course students will not only identify and work upon ironing out their own grammatical deficiencies, but will also look at how developing grammatical competence and language ability in the classroom requires teachers to look at the problems real pupils have when acquiring grammar. Students will investigate the various causes and types of errors made in the spoken and written output of pupils attending German schools and consider how to adapt their own grammatical input as teachers to various types of learners and to different learner levels. Key concerns throughout the course will be how to teach grammatical competence, how to make assessments of language ability as valid and reliable as possible, and how to develop and structure feedback strategies to enable pupils to learn from grammatical errors.
This course will be taught asynchronously.
Interested students should register using the MA Education Sprachpraxis Registration Form available on the departmental website / Abteilung Applied Language Studies. Deadline: 29.10.2020. |
