In this practical course, students interested in exploring specialised translation as a professional activity will have an opportunity to develop initial competence in this field by working with selected texts from key areas of economics and technology. Texts will be translated from German into English and vice versa. The course aims to sensitise students to important linguistic and textual differences between economic and scientific/technical discourse in the two languages. Participants will also deepen their understanding of procedural aspects of the work of a specialised translator such how to research and translate the source text appropriately, how to use resources, and how to manage terminology in relation to clients’ needs. At least B2-level in English and German is required in this course.
This course will taught synchronously and asynchronously.
