This course will mainly focus on late 20th- and 21st-century representations of London in literature. We will establish a dialogue between the views of cultural critics on the modern metropolis and the literary texts under discussion, and we will investigate how literature intervenes in the cultural discourse on metropolitan life. Our material comprises novels, literary and film essays as well as critical articles.
