Arbitration and alternative dispute resolution methods are becoming ever more important in legal practice, especially in an international context. Arbitration, for example, is already the preferred dispute resolution mechanism in international trade. The Arbitration module intends to provide the students with an insight into the theoretical and practical framework of international arbitration. This module covers subjects such as dispute resolution toolbox, sources of law in arbitration, arbitration agreement as the cornerstone of the arbitration process, arbitrability, arbitration procedure, taking of evidence, complex arbitrations and interim reliefs. It provides a comprehensive overview of arbitration, starting with the arbitration agreement and the commencement of the arbitration through the different stages of arbitration proceedings, the module will come to an end with lectures discussing the remedies against as well as the recognition and enforcement of arbitral awards. |
