How should one live? What is the best kind of life to lead? Can doing philosophy contribute to becoming a just and happy person? Why should one live a life of justice if unjust persons seem to be happier? In this seminar, we shall approach these and other such questions by reading and discussing central passages from Plato’s Republic and Aristotle’s Nicomachean Ethics. Readings will be made available via Moodle and Dropbox. The seminar requires no previous knowledge of the topic. The class will be held in English, but German contributions are welcome. |
