Berlin is a city of migration with several migrant communities. Acknowledging migration in a city assumes that migration is no longer a deviation but the norm. Migrants and particularly refugees represent an important complexity of the current societies. They engage and contribute to the future of the city through their interactions and imaginaries. In this research-oriented course, we focus on urban spaces to contribute to a cartographic understanding of migration and the spatiality of inclusion in Berlin.
The class is bilingual (English and Farsi/Dari) so students and refugees can share their knowledge about Berlin and discuss inclusion, urbanisation, space and migration in their prefered language. Hence, facilitated by a constant translation, it is a chance for comparing diverse Berlins by alternative approaches such as collective mapping.
This seminar is in line with the previous seminars from Berlin in dialogue initiative in BIM (Berliner Institut für empirische Integrations- und Migrationsforschung) toward a spatial understanding of refugees in Berlin. The course is designed to benefit from the previous participants with refugee background as the facilitator of research in the seminar.
Participants will focus on the places of migration related to a community or a neighborhood, and produce a map as their final assignment. These maps will be presented in the class, so other participants can help and improve them.The final results will be presented on a specific website that is designed for this research-seminar.

مکان‌های مهاجرت در برلین
برلین شهر مهاجرت است. شهری که در آن مهاجرت دیگر نه یک امر عجیب بلکه عادی و روزمره شده است. در واقع مهاجران و به‌طور خاص پناهجویان/پناهندگان تجسد پیچیدگی‌های جوامع کنونی ما هستند. مهاجران با عمل و تصوراتشان در شکل‌گیری آینده شهری که در آن زندگی می‌کنند مشارکت می‌کنند و بر آن تاثیر می‌گذارند. در این سمینار پژوهشی ما با تمرکز بر فضاهای شهری تلاش می‌کنیم به سوی فهمی تازه از مهاجرت در برلین حرکت کنیم.
در این سمینار پژوهشی دوزبانه (فارسی/دری و انگلیسی) دانشجویان و پناهندگان/پناهجویان می‌توانند دانسته‌های خود درباره شهر برلین، مشارکت، شهرسازی، فضا و مهاجرت را به زبانی که ترجیح می‌دهند، به اشتراک بگذارند. تمام درس‌ها و بحث‌ها ترجمه می‌شوند تا همه بتوانند در آنها مشارکت کنند.
همچنین در کلاس با هم فیلم و عکس می‌بینیم، نقشه می‌کشیم و در مورد پروژه‌های همدیگر بحث می‌کنیم. نتایج تحقیقات مشارکت‌کنندگان در وبسایت کلاس در دسترس عموم قرار خواهد گرفت.
این سمینار یکی از سری سمینارهایی است که در قالب پروژه «برلین در گفتگو» در بیم (موسسه مطالعات تجربی مهاجرت برلین) در راستای فهم فضایی و مکانی مهاجران در برلین برگزار می‌شود.
