Prerequisites: good knowledge of Microeconomics, in particular game theory
Contents: Voting is a key mechanism for collective decision making. Voting outcomes, however, depend on modeling assumptions, voting procedures, voters’ preferences and voters’ rationality. In this seminar, we investigate based on a selection of journal articles how theoretical predictions of voting outcomes depend on the procedures and voters’ preferences and how experimental results relate to the theoretical predictions as well as the implications for applications of various voting procedures.
Requirements: Participants are expected to give a presentation in class (ungraded). A list of possible topics will be provided to registered participants before the first meeting. Active participation in class is mandatory.
