The occupation of the Tahrir Square in Cairo in 2011, the self-organized social centers and solidarity clinics in Athens and Thessaloniki, or the militant research of Precarias a la Deriva in Madrid: In recent years, social movements have taken on various forms of disobedient self-organization, which transcend traditional concepts of resistance. Following Isabell Lorey's theory, these practices of resistance are a reaction to current gouvernement techniques, a government of the precarious and through precarization. But what does it mean to govern through precarization? How can we analyze and criticicize precarization in the context of queer_feminist and decolonial strategies? How can we understand acts of resistance and self-organization on the basis of shared precariousness? What follows, if we think agency and resistance from the perspectives of social reproduction, care, migration and queer alliances?
The first part of the Q-Tutorium in summer semester 2017 will be theory-centered. We will read and discuss Isabell Lorey's theory of precarization, as well as relevant concepts of gouvernementality, immunization, performativity, queer_feminist and postcolonial concepts of agency. During the winter semester 2017/18 we will apply these theories and concepts in the analysis of various practices of resistance. The participants will choose the interventions they investigate, as well as the methods of investigation. The Q-Tutorium may result in a publication, in which the results of the theoretical work and the investigation of practices of resistance are combined and made accessible. However, the form and design of the publication (Essays, Photography, etc.) depend on the participants of the Tutorium. It is therefore possible to participate, according to one’s disciplinary and personal interest, in either one or both of the semesters. All central texts are available in English and German, and the language of the QTutorium will depend on the participants. |
