This course takes an interdisciplinary approach to the various issues related to migration, displacement and transnationalism including literature in anthropology, migration studies, gender studies and refugee studies. The literature that will be discussed in this course attempts to reconceptualise the world beyond the boundaries of the nation-state. The course encourages students to examine concepts, such as diaspora, transnationalism and ‘refugee’ from a critical perspective. The course aims to ground students in theoretical understanding of the literature but will also introduce ethnographies mostly from the Middle East, the African continent and Latin America.

In this seminar there won't be an examination MAP.
