The aim of this course is to examine theoretically and empirically how cultural, economical, political and social power relations create socially constructed categories and hierarchies at the intersections of not only gender, sexuality but also ethnicity, class, religion, disability, etc. Through an intersectional perspective we seek to move beyond the analytical fragmentation resulting from constructing and deconstructing of gendered and sexualized difference and diversity especially in Cultural, Gender and Postcolonial Studies. Students who successfully finish this course will gain an in depth understanding of intersections of oppression, domination and discrimination at various levels. |
