This course deals with general problems when translating from German into English. Emphasis is both on specific problems pertaining to German-English translation due to the structure of the two languages and practical strategies in translating different types of texts in academic settings. Texts to be translated include reviews, synopses and online materials. There will be practice translations to be written in class and accompanying exercises to highlight selected structural features.
