From the times of Mao and Stalin through the Sino-Soviet split and to nowadays New Silk Road, in this seminar we will follow recent trends in (post-)Socialist Eurasian societies. Comparing everyday realities such as labour migrations, forms of spirituality and emerging middle classes, the aim is to sharpen our understanding of glocal modernities and traditionalisms in-between eastern China and western Central Asia. |
