The scope of this seminar is to provide the theoretical background of the discipline of American Cultural History. This seminar presents an overview of the most important theories and discourses that have been employed within the field of American culture. In this respect, theoretical approaches, such as formalism, structuralism, post-structuralism, deconstruction, psychoanalysis, feminism, critical race theory, ethnic perspectives, postcolonialism, cultural studies, etc., will be addressed together with their proper historical context.
