This course focuses on important contemporary issues concerning civil liberties and political, economic, and social developments in the U.S. Participants will complete weekly readings at home, take part in discussions, and write and revise one 10-12 page paper. Special attention will be paid to the effective planning and structuring of academic papers; how to include statistics and political and social theory in your paper; and how to make your argumentation clearer and more convincing.
