The Literary Field in the UK explores how books are written, produced, marketed and received by readers. A hands-on course with input from specialists and people working in the field, with a focus on how social cohesion is underminedby the lack of ethnic, social, geographical and gender diversity in British publishing. You will find out for yourself what it is like to be a writer, an editor, and a marketing person. Assessment is continuous throughout the course (writing exercises for a portfolio). All disciplines are welcome. The schedule is slightly irregular, mostly Thursdays 10.30-12.00/10.45-12.15. Details to be announced on Moodle before the start of the semester, please enrol: The Literary Field in the UK: Subtle Forms of Exclusion, the key is LitField24.
