This course will help the students develop the skills needed to write an academic term paper: examining works relevant to American Studies, developing a thesis, planning and organizing, integrating and documenting secondary literature, outlining/pre-writing, flow/coherence, academic tone and style, revising for clarity, and giving peer feedback. This course is a workshop format and addresses the needs of individual students as they emerge throughout the semester. Course requirements: regular attendance in accordance with university attendance policy, active participation in class sessions and activities, completing weekly homework and in-class assignments as indicated on the Moodle course page, and participating in course discussions. Students will compose one term paper of 12-15 pages in stages with peer review and revisions of each part of the term paper, including individual consultation with instructor. The revised term paper constitutes the MAP. Course only for BA American Studies majors (Kernfach).
