Master students from Germany, Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda plan, implement and report an interdisciplinary student project. They will conduct an interdisciplinary situation analysis for one or two case studies („value chain stakeholder networks“) in Kenya, with respect to their strengths and weaknesses. The focus lies on piloting ICT-based innovations along the value chain, starting at time of harvest, postharvest handling, processing, transport & marketing & consumer-relations. The students will be involved in the field test of a Smartphone application (App) that is intended to increase the efficiency of the trading process and hence of the overall value chain. This app is currently developed as part of the InNuSens project, following the principles of the two-sided market theory1. The students will be involved in aspects of the design of the app and its functionalities, a field test and the development and answering of research questions related to the introduction of this app in East-Africa. Detailed and thorough attention shall also be given to the perceived usefulness of the app, including the embedding of the use of the app in the social system represented by the actors along the value chain. |
