Religion and sustainable development are related in a complex web of manifold entanglements. The seminar aims to study the contribution of religious communities to processes of sustainable development in two different contexts, Germany and South Africa. It is an interdisciplinary research seminar for advanced students and offered in collaboration with the Faculty of Theology and Religion at University of Pretoria (UP), South Africa.
Participants will conduct their own research projects. For this, they can either (A) work on a research question of their own choice and form a research partnership with a UP student, in which they mutually comment and discuss one another's research, or (B) form a tandem with a UP student to work on a selected research question related to the research project "Driving Forces of Transformation - Religious Communities as Agents of Sustainable Development".
If Corona-related travel restrictions are lifted, a joint one-week seminar will take place at UP from 24 to 30 January 2022 (tbc), where the research project outlines (B) or first research results (A) will be presented and discussed. If travelling is not possible, the one-week seminar block will take place virtually. We are planning to continue the seminar in the summer term, continued participation will be an advantage. |
